Some help needed

topic posted Wed, October 26, 2005 - 12:18 AM by  Isaiah
I seem to be having a major problem keeping my dilantin levels up. About two weeks ago I went to get my medication levels checked, and found out they were low. So I raised my dosage and just got my levels looked at again and they're still low! I've been on dilantin for a while now, so is there a possibility that I've developed a tolerance?

anything is possible when it comes to unpredictability in meds. go see the doctor cause you can make mistakes trying to adjust yourself without monitoring :)

I should have made my post more clear. My doctor told me to raise my dosage by 100mg when I first went in. Then I got my levels checked again after increasing it for two weeks, and they were still low.

definitely go to the doc or call him/her....your body may be metabolising the meds differently.

if you've already haven't, go get a blood test where they can measure your enzyme and hormone levels, and also get a blood count. i'm not sure what happened with the dr, but i was just wondering if all he did was increase your dosage without looking at all of these factors. because you know, dr's often treat the problem by playing with meds without looking at other extenuating factors circumstances.
