Re: epilepsy and smoking
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 4:51 PMthanx lindsay. that's exactly what happens to me. 'sometimes' after i'm done having a cigarette, i'll have a drop seizure. i've done some research about cigs and seizures and they have found no evidence of cigs causing drop attacks or petit mals. but what the fcuk do they know?
I was just wondering, how often does that happen to her? how many times has she ripped her pants? when i fall my knees hurt like hell, that's why i have holes in most of my pants. my girlfriend says i should get knee pads sewed onto them :).
the bottom line is, yeah, smoking is bad for you. but what you know and realize are two different things. i know that smoking is bad, but i don't realize that it is bad. alright, i'm gonna stop b4 i get all taoist on smoking cigarettes.
but anyways, thanx, it's always nice to hear that someone is in the same boat, no how big or small the boat is. And it's such a great gift to have someone there for you. sometimes the best thing to have when you feel alone (in this case i would mean other epileptics) is to have someone there for you, support you, to understand, and empathize with you (in this case u 4 ur honey), no matter how much or how little you can do about their situation.
blessings and love to you too, lindsay,
Mien

Re: epilepsy and smoking
Wed, October 19, 2005 - 5:04 PMI've heard that smoking can make your body need a stronger dosage of medication. I don't know if this is true though.

Sat, October 22, 2005 - 8:10 PMsmoking and epilepsy AND drinking and epilepsy do not mix.
BOTH lower your body's threshold ability to help you control or at least lessen seizures.

Re: epilepsy and smoking
Sun, October 23, 2005 - 8:54 PMOne of the most recent tonic-clonics that I've had has left me with some cigg burns in my shirt. Luckily, it was just a t-shirt that I don't really care about and I've wisened up, deciding to try quitting smoking with the nicotine gum this time... I've attempted to quit before with the patch, and I don't reccomend it to anyone who has epilepsy.
I bought a box of the generic nicorrette type gum, and am planning to start it tommorrow.
hope all goes well -
